DC is current that flows in one direction with a constant voltage polarity while AC is current that changes direction periodically along with its voltage polarity.

But as societies grew the use of DC over long transmission distances became too inefficient. Nikola Tesla changed all that with the invention of alternating current electrical systems. With AC it is possible to produce the high voltages needed for long transmissions. Therefore today, most portable devices use DC power while power plants produce AC. The V is for voltage, which means the potential difference between two charges.

In other words, it is a measurement of the work required to move a unit charge between two points.

When we see a value such as 10 Volts, it is a measurement of the potential difference between two reference points. As mentioned previously, current is the measurement of the flow of charge in a circuit. This leaves us with the letter R which represents Resistance.

Electrical resistance, measured in Ohms, is the measure of the amount of current repulsion in a circuit. Simply, resistance resists current flow. When electrons flow against the opposition offered by resistance in the circuit, friction occurs and heat is produced.

The most common application for resistance in a circuit is the light bulb. The light bulb introduces enough resistance in a circuit to heat up the filament inside, causing light to be emitted. Resistance in a circuit can also be helpful when needing to alter voltage levels, current paths, etc.

Resistors are self-contained packages of resistance that can be added to a circuit and are commonly used to divide voltage levels. First, we need to understand what Series and Parallel circuits mean. Series circuits are those which are connected in-line with the power source. The current in series circuits is constant throughout but the voltage may vary.

Parallel circuits are those which branch off from the power supply. The total current supplied from the power source is divided among each of the branches but voltage is common throughout.

The main objective of this book is to improve the knowledge in digital technology. Advantage of this book is in presenting and teaching circuits, electronics and digital communication from a single book. This book is differing from the other books regards length, structure and emphasis of the content. It consists of nine chapters, each chapter being distinctive to the other in terms of the content but all these summed up for the common technology.

These chapters include circuit fundamentals, AC circuits, diode applications, semi-conductor diodes and transistors, practical amplifier circuits, operational amplifiers, digital electronics, digital computers and digital systems. It provides sufficiently deep understanding of this subject for students to interact intelligently with other engineers.

Ribbens Understanding Automotive Electroncis This book is intended for those who have not had the formal training in the physical sciences and mathematics as well as for those who want to understand the functional operation of automotive electronic systems.

This book is extensive revision of the previous versions based on the reviews and suggestions. It is mainly focused on the analytical models and quantitative performance analysis of electronic components and their subsystems found in the automobile field.

It consists of ten chapters and has nearly pages including glossary, questions and index. Some of those chapters are electronic fundamentals, the basic electronic engine control, digital power train control systems, automotive instrumentation and telematics, etc.

What is your perspective about this book while it covers the specialized electronics in the automobile industry?

Embedded Systems Architecture, 2nd Edition Author: Tammy Noergaard Embedded Systems Architecture Embedded systems architecture book is proposed to give the clear idea about hardware and software involved in the embedded system field.

Its discussion starts from the principles of electronics and its advances through software to the expensive end phase of maintenance.

This book treats the hardware and software as an integrated whole and sorted in such that it gives the nature of the embedded system. The whole book is divided into four sections. First three sections discuses the parts of the embedded system and in final section first three topics are summed up for the designing purpose. Its nearly consist of pages including some projects and exercises. Thompson Intuitive Analog Circuit Design This book is designed for the practicing engineers and students who are interested in learning the real world techniques for designing and analyzing the analog circuits using transistors, diodes, operational amplifiers and other electronic devices.

This book combines the theoretical techniques, real world design examples and some test results.
